Automation, AV & Centralized Supervision Upgrade – Monaco

The SS Delphine, a 75-meter historic steam yacht launched in 1921 in Detroit, is one of the last operational vessels of its kind.

After more than a century navigating across the world’s seas, the yacht now operates in the Mediterranean, primarily between Marseille and Monaco.

As part of a major refit program initiated in 2020, ITE Yachting was entrusted with the modernization of several key onboard systems, bringing advanced technology to this iconic vessel while respecting its heritage.

Project Overview

This project involved three major upgrade phases, focusing on audio visual systems, automation and centralized technical supervision.

The objective was to improve system reliability, simplify operations for the crew and enhance the overall onboard experience for guests.

Audio Visual System Reengineering

The yacht was equipped with high-end audio visual systems, but previous installations did not meet the required integration standards.

A complete redesign and reprogramming of the Crestron architecture was carried out to restore full system functionality and usability.

• Full reprogramming of the Crestron control system
• Integration of touch panels (TSW 560 / TSW 1060) and remote controls (TSR 310)
• Centralized control of all AV sources
• Integration of media platforms (Zappiti, Denon HEOS, Spotify, Sky satellite)
• Distribution to Samsung motorized displays and Focal speaker systems

The result is a fully integrated and intuitive AV environment, accessible from multiple control interfaces across the yacht.

Gangway Automation System

In response to a long-standing operational need, we developed a custom automation solution for the yacht’s gangway system.

Based on a Siemens programmable logic controller (PLC), this system enables safe and simplified operation by the crew.

• Secure remote control via waterproof handheld device
• Automated deployment and retraction sequences
• One-touch return to navigation position
• Enhanced safety and operational reliability

This solution allows a single crew member to operate the gangway efficiently and safely.

Centralized Supervision System (BMS / GTC)

One of the most significant upgrades was the implementation of a centralized supervision system, designed and developed by ITE Yachting using the PC Vue platform.

This system provides full monitoring and control of the yacht’s technical infrastructure in real time.

• Monitoring of boiler temperatures and fuel consumption
• Control of propulsion systems (speed and rotation)
• Tank level management
• Fault detection and alarm management
• Data logging and historical analysis (trends, synoptics)

The captain can access critical data from a touchscreen located at the helm station, while a main supervision interface is installed in the engine room.

The system also includes audio alarm broadcasting, allowing crew members to receive alerts via handheld radios until acknowledgment, ensuring rapid response to critical events.

Results

This modernization project significantly improved both operational efficiency and onboard safety, while enhancing comfort for guests and crew.

The integration of advanced automation and supervision systems provides a reliable and scalable technological foundation for the yacht’s future operations.
