PROJECT – M/Y BEATRIX
Lighting & Automation System Refurbishment – Crestron Integration

The M/Y BEATRIX, a 50-meter yacht built in 2015 by Cantieri di Termoli, offers high-end accommodation for up to 12 guests.

Over time, the onboard lighting and shading control systems showed signs of aging, requiring both technical refurbishment and improved user interface ergonomics.

ITE Yachting was entrusted with restoring and modernizing these systems while preserving the existing installation as much as possible.

Project Overview

A key challenge of this project was the absence of up-to-date technical documentation, including electrical schematics and source code for the existing Crestron system.

The objective was to rebuild a reliable and maintainable system while improving usability for both guests and crew, without requiring major structural modifications.

System Audit & Reverse Engineering

The project began with a comprehensive audit of the existing installation, covering system topology, architecture and functional behavior.

This phase allowed us to reconstruct a complete technical database and create updated documentation for the system.

This documentation is essential not only for maintenance but also for enhancing the yacht’s long-term value.

Automation System Reconfiguration

To restore full control of lighting and shading systems, a new Crestron controller was deployed.

Existing functional modules were retained, while faulty components were replaced, ensuring optimal reuse of the installation.

• Deployment of a new Crestron automation processor
• Reprogramming of the entire control logic
Preservation of existing keypads and control interfaces
No modification to cabinetry or cabling infrastructure

This approach ensured a seamless transition while minimizing installation impact and cost.

User Interface Redesign

A complete redesign of the user interfaces was carried out to improve usability and align with modern yachting standards.

From 8-inch touch panels, both guests and crew can control:

• Lighting zones
• Scene activation (lighting and shading)
• Dimming levels

Interfaces were designed to be intuitive, clear and instantly understandable, ensuring effortless use from the moment guests come onboard.

Dedicated Crew Interfaces

In parallel, advanced interfaces were developed specifically for the crew.

These tools allow:

• Full control of all onboard systems
• Real-time system monitoring
• Rapid fault identification and diagnostics

This ensures high system availability, particularly during demanding charter periods where reliability is critical.

Training & Operational Support

Following commissioning, dedicated training sessions were provided to the technical crew.

The objective was to ensure full autonomy in system operation, diagnostics and maintenance, reducing downtime and improving overall operational efficiency.

This approach enables the crew to confidently manage the installation throughout charter seasons.
